DO YOU:
- feel overwhelmed by global climate change and the economic downturn?
- want to make a lasting local difference?
- invest in a project that will last 20+ years?
- want to help create a space that brings peace to others?
- need to a place in which to find balance?
- wish to re-connect to nature?
- support environmental education?
- ever wish to “escape” into nature, right in the city?
The new Meditative Nature Trail supports Shepherd’s Corner mission to reconnect people to nature via land, life, and spirit. At 14 stations, activities and signs will engage the body, mind, and soul – creating space for reflection. The meditative trail is a one-of-a-kind experience. It will teach people, of all ages, about the environment, for the next 20 years. Already, this project has involved Upper Arlington High School students in the design of the stations and signs.
Today, we watch our environment and community struggle with both climate change and economic hardship. These are difficult issues to “think global, and act local” about! In their dedication to Rotary’s motto of “service above self”, CSRC members chose to support a local organization, which, in quantifiable meaningful ways, addresses both issues for years to come.
Shepherd’s Corner is a hidden treasure in Columbus. It is our community’s only nonprofit organic farm, providing both education programs and space for spiritual retreat. In addition to teaching about organic farming and care for the environment, Shepherd’s Corner also donates its produce to local food pantries. This project will benefit the many diverse organizations who are recipients Shepherd’s Corner beneficence each year.
